This book is the second part of an in-depth study of Environmental and Natural Resources Law conducted by the author throughout his tenure in public positions related to Brazilian environmental issues. Throughout the chapters that comprise this work, he seeks to analyze all concepts, principles, characteristics, and matters pertaining to the institutes of this branch of law that are of interest to scholars and practitioners of environmental legal norms. The extensive scope of this work is justified by the author’s commitment, during his exposition, to addressing all topics related to environmental legislation of great importance today.In its second volume, the work encompasses the peculiarities of legal protection of flora. The book also provides a complete study of Permanent Preservation Areas and Conservation Units. It further addresses, seeking to exhaust the subject, the analysis of environmental issues related to the use of pesticides, their components and related substances, as well as the legal protection of water and the legal protection of fauna. In short, the pages that comprise Volume 2 of this work seek to present readers with the most comprehensive commentary possible regarding the most diverse aspects of these Environmental and Natural Resources Law institutions, as well as the legal norms that regulate and systematize the subject matter addressed therein.We note that in the first part of this study, the general concepts of environment and natural resources, the general concepts of environmental impact, an introduction to Environmental and Natural Resources Law, Constitutional Environmental and Natural Resources Law, the National Environmental Policy, the National Environmental System – SISNAMA, environmental licensing, environmental zoning, and environmental liability were analyzed. In the third and final part, to be presented to readers as Volume 3, issues related to mining, petroleum, indigenous or traditional populations, biosafety of genetically modified organisms – GMOs, protection of plant varieties, nuclear energy and environmental protection, Environmental Criminal Law, and Environmental Administrative Law will be addressed.Given its importance, scope, and currency, this work certainly deserves a place in the libraries of lawyers, judges, members of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, environmentalists, and all those dedicated to the study of Environmental Law.
